Live Bridge Status
The homepage shows the current community-reported status — Open or Closed — and the Atlantic sea condition level (Calm, Hazardous, Critical, or Extreme) based on real wave height data. Auto-refreshes every 60 seconds. No account needed to view.
📊
Submit a Report
Create a free account and tap Open or Closed on the homepage. Sea conditions are auto-filled from live Atlantic wave data. Add a comment or photo before submitting. You can report once every 5 minutes.
🌤️
Current Weather & Waves
Live Atlantic wave height, swell, wave period, and wind pulled from the eastern side of Eleuthera where waves actually hit the bridge. Color-coded: green = calm, orange = hazardous, red = critical or extreme.
🌊⏰

Check the live status on our homepage at GlassWindowBridge.com for the most current community-reported conditions. Status is updated in real time based on reports from people who have recently driven past the bridge. If no recent reports exist, the status will show as "Unconfirmed" and you should verify locally before travelling.

The Glass Window Bridge in Eleuthera sits at the narrowest point of the island, fully exposed to the Atlantic Ocean. During storms, high swells, or rough sea conditions, Atlantic waves can wash directly over the road surface, making it dangerous or impassable. The Royal Bahamas Police Force may close the bridge when waves are washing over. Closures can happen quickly, including during otherwise calm-looking weather, especially during Atlantic storm season (June–November).

Status is calculated from recent community reports submitted within the last 720 minutes. Newer reports are weighted more heavily than older ones. Trusted reporters and highly-voted reports carry extra weight. If there are not enough recent reports, the status shows as "Unconfirmed." Site administrators can also manually override the status during known events.

Create a free account or log in at GlassWindowBridge.com, then tap one of the four large report buttons on the homepage — Open, Closed, Calm, or Rough. Your report is submitted instantly with a single tap. Reports help other travelers know what to expect before they drive to the bridge.

There is a 5-minute cooldown between reports per account to prevent spam and ensure the feed reflects genuine, current conditions from real visitors.

Mixed Reports means recent community reports are conflicting — some people reported the bridge as open while others reported it closed. This often means conditions are changing rapidly or that reports span different times within the window. Use extra caution, check the most recent individual report, and verify locally if possible.

Unconfirmed means there are not enough recent reports within the last 720 minutes to calculate a reliable status. It does not necessarily mean the bridge is closed — it simply means fresh community data is not available right now. If you are planning a visit, check closer to your departure time or contact a local source.

The Glass Window Bridge is safe to visit and cross when conditions are calm and no police closure is in effect. Never cross if waves are actively washing over the road surface. Do not climb down onto the rocks below the bridge — unexpected wave surges in this area have caused fatalities. Always obey official police closures and posted road signs. This site cannot tell you whether it is safe — always use your own judgment on the ground.

The Glass Window Bridge is most reliably open during the dry season (December through May) when Atlantic swells are generally calmer. Summer and fall coincide with Atlantic hurricane season (June–November) and carry higher risk of rough conditions and closures. Even during calm seasons, unexpected swell events can occur. Always check the live status before you go.

No. GlassWindowBridge.com is an independent, community-run platform. It is not affiliated with the Government of the Bahamas, the Royal Bahamas Police Force, or any official authority. All status information is community-reported and unverified. Always verify conditions locally and obey official signs and personnel.

Use the Contact page to describe the report you believe is inaccurate or misleading. The moderation team reviews reports and can remove spam or false entries. You can also use the thumbs-down vote on any report you believe is inaccurate — heavily downvoted reports carry less weight in the status calculation.
